Israeli staff assesses what went fallacious with lunar touchdown

Morris Kahn, a billionaire who founded Israeli firm SpaceIL, announced Saturday that preparations for the mission would begin this weekend.

Beresheet (which means Genesis in Hebrew) is the first privately-funded spacecraft to enter the moon.

And while the competition ended previous year after no-one was able to meet its deadline (the foundation has subsequently announced they will award the Beresheet collaboration $1m for their achievement), other teams involved are also continuing with their efforts to get to the Moon. "By the time they had reset the system and the engine successfully restarted it was too late to slow the lander down for the soft landing".

For Israel, the landing itself is the main mission, but the spacecraft also carries on its one-way trip a scientific instrument to measure the lunar magnetic field, which will help understanding of the moon's formation. With its entry into orbit around the moon, Israel becomes the seventh country to do so.

Ben Simmons changes his stance on boos, says he 'loves Philly'
After starting slowly, Embiid fueled a 21-2 blitz to start the third to turn a 65-64 halftime lead to an 86-66 edge. Philadelphia's star center Joel Embiid was listed as questionable leading up to the contest, but chose to suit up.

The main Sponsor and Chairman of SpaceIL, Morris Kahn, said: "in view of the large worldwide support that I have received for this project, I decided for a new project: Beresheet 2".

Fifth, SpaceIL will be awarded a $1 million prize for its achievements.

NASA, which partnered with SpaceIL on key aspects of the mission, congratulated SpaceIL "on the accomplishment of sending the first privately funded mission into lunar orbit", tweeted NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine.

"We had a failure in the spacecraft", said a SpaceIL representative at the time. It's when we keep trying that we inspire others and achieve greatness.

"SpaceIL's mission not only touched the moon, it touched the lives and hearts of an entire world that was watching", said XPRIZE executive chairman and founder Peter Diamandis in a statement.

"Explorers around the world know that this is not the end of this story, only the end of one fantastic chapter of [Israel's] history!"

SpaceIL's Beresheet lunar lander. "NASA will continue to explore with global and commercial partners!" he said. In Jewish tradition, we learn that the Jewish people are like the moon. "At 150 meters when the connection with Beresheet was lost, it was moving at 500 km/h, making a collision inevitable". "Never lose hope - your hard work, teamwork, and innovation is inspiring to all!" he wrote on Twitter. Moments later, the mission was declared a failure.

"We will try again", Netanyahu said. Because SpaceIL couldn't count on that, however, it opted for a more complex route.
