Tiger Woods Wins His 5th Masters Title, Marking A Career Comeback

Tiger Woods of the US celebrates with with his green jacket after winning the 2019 Masters. Woods is tied with fellow American Tony Finau, and the three will be paired together for the final round Sunday.

It completes a fairytale comeback to the pinnacle of golf for Woods, whose career imploded after a 2009 sex scandal before unraveling amid injuries and personal problems.

Schauffele had just put the finishing touches on a final-round 68 to finish tied for second place at the Masters, albeit a shot behind victor Tiger Woods who electrified Augusta National on his way to his 15 major championship.

"I was just trying to plod my way along the golf course all day", said Woods.

Such an economic slowdown could lead to one or more interest rate cuts by the Reserve Bank of Australia this year. Markets reacted modestly, with the announcement no surprise for a poll that must be held by the end of May.

"It didn't feel unfamiliar because I had the lead at the Open Championship, so that was just two majors ago, " Woods said.

Tiger Woods wasn't the only big victor on Masters Sunday. "And so that helps".

Woods, one shy of matching Nicklaus for the most career Masters wins, won his 81 career US PGA victory, one shy of the all-time record held by Sam Snead.

If players are able to finish their final rounds and a champion is determined Sunday, patrons won't get to see the traditional green jacket ceremony, in which the previous year's victor (in this case, Patrick Reed) slips a green jacket on the new champion.

Woods finished at 13-under 275 and became, at 43, the oldest Masters champion since Nicklaus won his sixth green jacket at 46 in 1986.

That gave him a two-shot cushion, and no one was going to catch him.

Like him or not, it's also pretty special to have Tiger Woods back on top of the golf world again.

"You want to play against the best to ever play", Koepka said. Now he's the clubhouse leader. I really couldn't so much of anything.

That, as defined by major victories, belongs to Jack Nicklaus, whose 18 major victories were spread over 24 years, from the 1962 U.S. Open to the 1986 Masters. Dustin Johnson made three straight birdies late in the round, but he got going too late and had to settle for a 68 and a return to No. 1 in the world.
