Death toll from tornadoes, severe storms in South rises to 8

While Sunday's storms might not be as severe as the ones that battered the South on Saturday, they will hit far more people in heavily populated cities.

A tornado flattened much of the south side of Franklin, Texas, overturning mobile homes and damaging other residences, said Robertson County Sheriff Gerald Yezak. The Angelina County Sheriff's Office says an 8-year-old and 3-year-old died after the tree hit the back of the vehicle in Lufkin, about 115 miles (185 kilometers) northeast of Houston.

The tree "flattened the auto like a pancake", Capt. Alton Lenderman of the Angelina County Sheriff's Office told The Associated Press. "The tree fell just as they were going under it".

Yezak says two of the people injured Saturday when a likely tornado touched down near the cities of Hearne and Franklin were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Arsenal to investigate alleged racist abuse in Europa League tie
Arsenal triumphed over a disappointing Napoli in the first-leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday night. Focusing on the expected hostile atmosphere in Naples, Aubameyang added: "We already know [what to expect]".

The tornado watch is valid until 3 a.m. Monday, April 15.

The tornado downed trees near the Mississippi State University campus. Cherokee County Judge Chris Davis said one woman died of critical injuries, according to The Associated Press, which reports about two dozen additional injuries there.

One person was left dead during a Native American cultural event in Alto, Texas, and another person was killed in Houston County's Weches. Damaging winds and some tornadoes are the main threats along this line. A 95-year-old man died after a tree fell on his trailer in MS and a 13-year-old in Louisiana also died after he drowned in a drainage canal, officials said.

The large storm system also knocked out power to thousands and caused some flash flooding. A vehicle fatally struck a county worker in Hueytown, a suburb outside Birmingham, the Jefferson County sheriff's office said on Twitter.

Residents in parts of Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia Georgia and Florida were encouraged to monitor weather bulletins throughout Sunday and to secure loose outdoor items.

The Washington and Baltimore region are in the slight risk zone for severe storms on Sunday, with the best chance of storms into the evening and overnight hours.

The onslaught will continue until the end of the weekend with areas including Ohio, Pennsylvania and southern NY to northern Florida at risk.
