Olivier Giroud treble steers Chelsea into last eight

After a 3-0 victory in last week's last 16, first leg at Stamford Bridge, 2013 winners Chelsea were even more dominant in Kiev despite manager Maurizio Sarri ringing the changes, thumping the Ukrainians 5-0.

The Premier League side will now await Friday's draw to see who they will face in the quarterfinals, with a spot in the Champions League on offer for the victor of the second-tier European continental tournament.

Ancelotti, who won the 2010 English Premier League in the first of his two seasons as Chelsea coach, avoided his former team in Friday's draw.

He said: "In the last period, every time he has been on the pitch, he was able to play really very well".

Giroud has mostly had to make do with second striker status - first to Alvaro Morata and then to Gonzalo Higuain - after signing for the club in an £18m transfer from Arsenal in January 2018.

Giroud's flawless hat-trick means he is the Europa League's top scorer this season with nine goals and Sarri was delighted with his display.

"We must aim to qualify through the Premier League".

The midfield sees Ruben Loftus-Cheek being handed a start alongside Mateo Kovacic and N'Golo Kante, with Jorginho provided a rest and Ross Barkley not risked, for the English global is one yellow card away from suspension.

"Olivier is, for us, a very important player". Physically, technically, he is improving tactically. He has scored nine goals in this competition.

Munas Dabbur and Fredrik Gulbrandsen struck to give the hosts a glimmer of hope, but Christoph Leitgeb's injury-time third goal was only enough to secure a consolation win on the night.

Marcelino's men have recovered well from a slow start to the season, having also reached the Copa del Rey final and stepped up their bid for a top-four place in La Liga.
