Adam Schiff: Trump should have to testify under oath

Speaking to MSNBC, Schiff, who chairs the committee and represents California, answered questions about the next steps for those investigating President Donald Trump's alleged ties to Russian Federation.

After months of expressing certainty over a Trump impeachment-and even an indictment that would land the ex-president in prison-Schiff's softening of his stance could be the latest indicator that Democrats are expecting the findings of Special Counselor Robert Mueller to be underwhelming and anticlimactic.

"Well, if there's insufficient evidence in the Mueller report and we're not able to produce sufficient evidence in our own investigation, that ends the inquiry", Schiff explained.

Representatives of key congressional committees involved in Trump-related investigations say they have received no guidance from Mueller's office regarding his investigation's progress or future plans.

Brock Huard: What Earl Thomas' departure says about Seahawks
Thomas held out of the Seahawks training camp as he attempted to force the Seahawks to giving him a contract extension. The Browns felt good about their chances of landing Thomas, Jason La Canfora with CBS Sports reported Tuesday night.

Schiff based his opinion on revelations from Trump's former fixer Michael Cohen, who accused Trump, "Individual-1", of directing him to violate campaign finance laws in the weeks before the 2016 election. He then added there may still be "grounds for removal of office" or indictment after leaving the White House for possibly being "compromised by a foreign power". "One of the issues that we're looking at, which the Mueller report may not cover, is whether the Russians were laundering money for the Trump Organization".

"I've said all along that I don't think Bob Mueller should rely on written answers", Schiff said.

Schiff also spoke about impeachment the day after Pelosi said it was "not worth" impeaching Trump.

She told the paper: 'Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there's something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don't think we should go down that path, because it divides the country.

First person on Mars likely to be a woman: Nasa chief
More recently, scientists have detected water molecules on Moon using data from NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. While that is about $550 million below what was expected, NASA will get $263 million more than a year ago .

"I see little to be gained by putting the country through that kind of wrenching experience as I've often remarked in the past", Schiff said, echoing the sentiments of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

A party-line vote resulting in impeachment charges from the House would not be enough to remove Trump from office after a Senate trial.

"That doesn't mean we're voting on it", she clarified.
