New York Detective Killed By

Both officers were rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where Simonsen was pronounced dead.

Sgt. Goreman and two uniformed officers entered the store.

That's when they say they saw a man fitting the description from the 911 calls coming from the back pointing what appeared to be a handgun.

A New York City Police detective was killed by friendly fire during a robbery Tuesday night in Queens. "We have a total of seven members of the service who discharged a total of 42 rounds during this incident".

Officers recovered an imitation firearm at the scene, believed to be what the suspect used in the robbery.

"This is an absolute tragedy, the worst outcome any police officer or family of a police officer could ever imagine", police commissioner O'Neill added.

The suspect, who was also shot, is now at a nearby hospital and under arrest.

At least 20 Guard personnel killed in Iran bombing
The attack happened in Iran's port city of Chabahar which has been emerging as economic hub between the regional countries. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi condemned the attack and said the victims will soon be avenged.

The suspect, a 27-year-old male, was shot multiple times and taken to the New York Hospital Queens.

Mayor Bill de Blasio and several other city officials are at Jamaica Hospital Trauma Center.

"Make no mistake about it - friendly fire aside - it is because of the actions of the suspect that Detective Simonsen is dead", he said.

One of the callers reported seeing the suspect take two employees at gunpoint to the back of the store, O'Neil said.

Speaking on the suspect, Chief Monahan said he believes one of Ransom's prior convictions, among many, was for impersonating a police officer.

"His bravery was so clear, but his pain to have lost his colleague was clear as well", New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said at the news conference. It's the second time a police officer has been shot in the city in the past three months, AP points out.

"He was the kind of fellow that lead by example not by words, lead by his actions".

Google’s Pixel 4 could come with dual-SIM functionality enabled
This means that the users will be able to receive calls and SMS on both the SIM and both can be active at the same time. Just as interesting, however, is the note that the Pixel 3 does have that as well but is limited to internal testing.

He was also an elected delegate for the 102nd Precinct squad. Simonsen would start his shift by picking up water or soda and stayed to chat with workers. That's my best friend. Then the cops came out and put one guy in an ambulance'.

The squad had a meeting Tuesday morning and officers say because of that meeting, Simonsen was excused from being at work Tuesday night.

"He always asking us, 'How's things going?' He was always there for everybody when people need him", another worker said.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has directed flags on all state government buildings to fly at half staff in honor of Simonsen. "This tragedy is a heartbreaking reminder of the risks the fearless men and women in law enforcement face every day to keep us safe".

Brian Simonsen is the first NY police officer to die in the line of duty since July 2017.

In December, an officer on Staten Island was hit by friendly fire as officers responded to a domestic dispute call.
