Gaga wins Grammy for 'Shallow'; Hugh Jackman wins 1st Grammy

The 61st Grammy Awards will be broadcast from The Staples Centre in Los Angeles, California.

But we'll pause there, if only to save our breath for the latest award show drama - this time, concerning the Grammys.

The lead-up to this year's Grammys has not been completely smooth, though. As much as it is about me, it's not just about me. Diana Ross will be commemorated with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and will perform a medley on the occasion.

"You can't assume someone will win just because their song or their album was incredibly popular". This week Ariana Grande blasted Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich and accused him of lying about why she was no longer performing at the show.

The Grammys' tense relationship with the hip-hop community goes back decades. "I hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more".

Canadian serial killer gets life sentence
Parts of the eight men's bodies were later found in decorative planters at a home where McArthur worked as a landscaper. Many in the LGBTQ community say it's a slap in the face, a failure to send a clear signal that their lives matter.

Viewers may also be paying close attention to the number of female winners, as previous year the show made headlines when Alessia Cara was the only woman to nab a solo Grammy.

Carlile told the AP she stands "behind Ariana Grande's decision to stand up for herself and her art".

The Grammys are in even worse shape than the Oscars when it comes to figuring out ratings and appeal, and face a continued low-key boycott from music's biggest names on account of an ongoing problem with representation across nominations. "I am truly excited to be here hosting the Grammy Awards this year".

The Grammys have also struggled with gender inequality, an issue that came to its head past year. Taylor Swift, who was snubbed and one scored one nomination, also won't be at the show.

At a pre-Grammy brunch honoring Janelle Monae, a few hundred music industry players and performers packed tightly in a room to hear the singer speak passionately about women being the backbone of the music industry and dominating in nominations at Sunday's show.

Backed Syrian forces launch attack on final Isis stronghold
He said that when the SDF detects movement from IS fighters, they bomb them, but added: "There have not been any major changes". But activists and residents say Isis still has sleeper cells in Syria and Iraq, and is laying the groundwork for an insurgency.

The red-carpet, followed by the full event, can be watched live on Grammy's official website as well as on the CBS website.

Women are also hoping to get their due after the head of the Recording Academy - which includes more than 13,000 music professionals - told them previous year to "step up" if they wanted to do better on Grammys night.

Monae also highlighted the huge year for women at the Grammys: Five of the eight album of the year nominees are women, and six of the eight best new artist contenders are female acts. He later acknowledged that it was a "poor choice of words", and it forced the academy to launch a new task force focused on inclusion and diversity.

We couldn't be more excited to see what the 15-time Grammy victor does with this year's show - and we know she's pretty psyched about it too!
