Here’s What That Top Sanders Adviser Is Accused Of Doing

Sen. Bernie Sanders issued a formal apology to the women who worked for his 2016 presidential campaign who've alleged they were sexually harassed or assaulted by fellow campaign aides.

'We can't just talk about ending sexism and discrimination.

"Robert Becker, who directed Sanders" Iowa campaign and served as deputy national field director, is alleged to have approached a female staffer at a Philadelphia bar where members of the campaign had gathered, Politico reports.

Earlier this month, former women staffers told the New York Times that, while working on Sanders' first campaign, they experienced "sexual harassment and demeaning treatment, as well as pay disparity" problems - and that there was no one to turn to for help.

R. Kelly allegedly parties at Chicago nightclub amid sexual abuse allegations
Activists disturbed by the sexual, mental, and physical abuse allegations against the R&B singer started the #MuteRKelly campaign. Surviving R Kelly features multiple exes of the 51-year-old, as well as others who have collaborated with him over the years.

"To the women in our campaign who were harassed or mistreated I apologize", Sanders said at a news conference Thursday. But accounts of harassment from women who worked on his last campaign threaten to tarnish his image as a progressive and come at a time when female voters are central to the Democratic Party's strategy for defeating President Donald Trump.

"I was little bit busy running around the country trying to make the case", Sanders told CNN on January 2. "Our standards and safeguards were inadequate".

The People for Bernie Sanders and Organizing for Bernie, political action committees unaffiliated with a possible Sanders campaign, announced on Thursday that the 400 events prove there is already "an army of community led organizers already ramped up to put him miles ahead of other candidates in the 2020 race". It must be a reality in our daily lives.

"Boy is that a tough answer to defend, of course", responded Todd, "because if you're running to be the president of the United States, If you can't manage a campaign how do you manage a country?"

This long free agency process may be drawing to a merciful close soon, hopefully in Philadelphia's favor. On the other hand, they prefer Machado so they likely want to know where he's going first.

Allegations of sexual misconduct and an "untenable and risky dynamic that developed during [the Sanders] campaign" have dogged the Vermont senator in recent weeks, according to Politico. They claimed that, when they detailed those concerns to campaign superiors, they were sometimes ignored, and in one case, laughed off. Sanders denied knowing about the settlement to reporters.

Sanders, 77, is an independent who ran for the Democratic nomination in 2016.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., heads to his office at the Capitol in Washington, Friday, Dec. 21, 2018. Becker, in his late 40s at the time, told the staffer, who was in her 20s, that he had wanted to have sex with her "and made a reference to riding his "pole, ' according to the woman and three other people who witnessed what happened or were told about it shortly afterward by people who did".

"Robert Becker would not be a part of any future campaigns", the group said in a statement.
