Formula 3: Sophia Floersch hospitalised after horror crash at Macau Grand Prix

Fortunately, Floersch survived the awful crash but has been diagnosed with a spinal fracture, to which she'll undergo surgery soon. Thanks to the @fia and @hwaag_official @MercedesAMGF1 who are taking great care of me.

Floersch herself tweeted later in the day, thanking her team and the messages of support in the wake of the incident and that she would provide an update on her condition in the coming days.

Florsch, driving for Van Amersfoort Racing, nearly flew over a barrier in a high-speed collision in Macau.

Floersh clipped the rail, collided with the back of driver Jehan Daruvala before being lifted into the air by a collision with Sho Tsuboi's auto.

Florsch was taken to hospital and she is said to be conscious.

Floersch, 17, was sent hurtling into the barriers lining the edge of the race track when her vehicle vaulted over another auto. The ravaged race auto landed on the fencing, but it wasn't clear whether someone was directly hit based on the video above.

Tsuboi, two photographers and a marshal were also injured in the crash and have been transferred to hospital, but the grand prix organisers confirmed that all four were conscious.

The marshal, Chan Cha In, suffered fractured a bone in his face and picked up several lacerations.

Why local Conservative MPs are still backing Theresa May despite Brexit resignations
Portsmouth South MP Stephen Morgan said: 'Whether people voted leave or remain - nobody voted for this offer from the Government . May may also face a challenge to her leadership in a no-confidence vote being prepared by hard-line Brexiteers in her own party.

A report on the FIA website detailed what happened, stating: "A serious incident has occurred on lap 4 of the 2018 FIA World Cup at Macau involving auto #25 Sophia Floersch".

Floersch reportedly lost control in contact down a straightaway, launched off a curb and bounced off Tsuboi's vehicle.

At least three people have died on the Macau Grand Prix circuit.

There was a delay of over an hour in Macau before the race got back underway.
