Trump Says He's Giving Mueller Questions a Personal Touch

"I've answered them very easily - very easily", the president said at an Oval Office event.

Since then the two sides have reportedly jousted over whether the president had to answer and how he would do so - including the possibility that he would submit to a face-to-face interview with prosecutors.

Mr Mueller is investigating whether members of Trump's campaign conspired with Russian Federation in the 2016 presidential election and whether the President has unlawfully sought to obstruct the probe. Trump replied: 'My lawyers aren't working on that, I'm working on that.

Trump and his legal team have resisted attempts to sit down for an in-person meeting with Mueller's team.

Tensions have risen over the probe since Mr Trump ousted Jeff Sessions as USA attorney general last week.

Meanwhile, after being uncharacteristically subdued leading up to the midterm elections earlier this month, Trump used Twitter on Thursday to lay into Mueller, accusing the special counsel's team of "screaming and shouting at people" and "horribly threatening them to come up with the answers they want". "They have found no collusion and have gone absolutely nuts", Trump tweeted.
