Camp Fire search efforts intensify with scores of people still missing

The death toll from the Camp Fire in Northern California has reached 56, with more than 130 still missing, mostly from the town of Paradise.

The number of people declared missing in one of California's catastrophic wildfires has more than doubled to 631, as the struggle continues to contain one of the biggest blazes the U.S. state has ever known.

At least two people have died and 500 homes have been destroyed in the fire that's been burning in Southern California since November 8.

What was left was a ghostly, smoky expanse of empty lots covered in ash and strewn with twisted wreckage and debris. An army of firefighters, many from distant states, were still trying to contain and suppress the flames.
