California wildfire: Death toll jumps to 42

On Sunday, officials confirmed that two deaths in Malibu were related to the Woolsey Fire, bringing the statewide death toll to 31. And these blazes don't discriminate.

Celebrities have been taking to Twitter and Instagram to share heartbreaking shots of their homes in flames or the blackened aftermath. Actors Gerald Butler and Tracey Bregman and "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" regular Camille Grammer also lost their residences to the Woolsey fire.

The fire, on its fifth day Monday, has burned at least 85,500 acres and was 15 percent contained, according to Cal Fire. "I'm hoping one of them grabbed him and took him to shelter", Ms Teague said.

Four forensic anthropologists from Nevada's Clark County coroner's office have been deployed to the Paradise Fire, the county said in a statement. The Ventura County Humane Society said it was "deeply humbled by a $100,000 donation from Sandra Bullock and family" to rescue and care for animals evacuated from the fires. The death toll from the wildfire that incinerated Paradise and surrounding areas climbed to 29 - matching the mark for the deadliest single blaze in California history - as crews continued searching for bodies in the smoldering ruins, with almost 230 people unaccounted for.
