The gunman who killed 12 people at a bar in California went on social media during the attack and posted about his mental state, according to a law enforcement official.

Survivors of the Las Vegas shooting say they have used the bar as a place to meet up in recent months.

Long, who served in Afghanistan, shot a security guard outside the bar and a worker before turning his gun on the patrons, CNN reported.

Investigators have not commented on whether mental illness played a role in the rampage.
