Disney plans new Star Wars prequel series for streaming service

Disney plans new Star Wars prequel series for streaming service

Walt Disney (Disney) reported strong earnings for the fiscal fourth-quarter topping analysts' expectations.

Disney+ is one of several efforts from the media giant to compete with Netflix and other streaming services in the direct-to-consumer, internet-delivered video market, bypassing traditional distributors that now provide billions of dollars in revenue to the company. It'll be called Disney+, and it'll be populated by new material in Disney's most popular franchises, including Marvel and Star Wars.

Disney has been planning its video-streaming service since at least 2017 when the company said it was its multi-year contract with Netflix and pull all of its content off the service. As they're original programming for Hulu, they'll instead be made immediately available on the service rather than being delayed.

Did Princess Eugenie Get The Crown Meghan Markle Wanted For Her Wedding?
His brother, Prince William , added: "I know, I've got serious OCD on light switches now, which is bad ". Meghan eventually wore a diamond and platinum headpiece which was chosen by the Queen .

Iger also confirmed that talks are underway to secure back rights on existing library deals for Disney-owned titles. Still not a bad haul for a movie, but not almost good enough for a Star Wars movie. This was revealed by Disney CEO Bob Iger during an investor call today in which he also detailed how Disney+ won't just be a Netflix clone as Vulture TV reporter Josef Adalian reported.

Disney+ is also assembling a live-action series centered around a fan-favorite character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Disney's Netflix competitor finally has a name.

Death Toll Rises To Nine As California Wildfires Continue
A raging wildfire in southern California has triggered a mandatory evacuation order for much of the beachside city of Malibu. A California fire official says six major fires are burning around the state, and characterized three of them as "critical".

Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Hulu now dominate much of the market with their services. So, if you want to find Star Wars content, there's a dedicated place for that. We're moving ever closer to the breaking point where subscribers are fed up of paying for half a dozen different streaming services. Instead, it sounds like we'll see five (or six) services in one, with each brand getting its own microsite within Disney+ as a whole, each with its own unique UI. At the present time, the Rogue One prequel series doesn't have a premiere date, but with production slated to begin early next year, a 2020 release seems realistic.

Disney has announced Tom Hiddleston will return as Loki for a new Marvel TV series, which will be released on the company's new streaming service titled Disney+.
