Conjoined twins ready for separation surgery

The team of more than 20 doctors and nurses spent six hours operating on the pair, who shared a liver but no other major organs, to the relief of the surgeons.

Conjoined twins from Bhutan have been separated after a six-hour operation at an Australian hospital.

The 15-month-old girls, who were joined at the torso and shared a liver, were taken into theatre at Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital on Friday morning with happy medical staff emerging hours later.

The head of paediatric surgery, Dr Joe Crameri, led the operation and said "the best part of the surgery is there were no highs and there were no lows" during it.

Crameri said if there were any unexpected problems during the operation, the hospital had all the resources and experts on hand that it would need.

BTS appearance on Japanese TV canceled over member’s atomic bomb shirt
Claiming that the T-shirt instigated anti-Japanese sentiment, the media outlet even described the group as "anti-Japanese". Viewers had complained over a T-shirt Jimin was spotted wearing in Los Angeles in March of 2017.

Doctors faced a hard challenge separating the girls; until the first cut was made, they didn't know how many organs the twins shared.

Funds for the girls' operation, which estimated to cost around $180,000 (250,000 AUD), according to 9 News, was raised by Children First Foundation, a Melbourne-based non profit. But doctors in their home country did not have the surgical experience necessary to carry out the complicated operation.

"She just wants that quietness and finds it peaceful", Ms Lodge said.

Dr Karma Sherub, a pediatric surgeon with JDWNRH, who is now in Melbourne said that the twins look good and have become strong and healthy. The girls are expected to remain in hospital for at least a week, Crameri said.

"We are here earlier because there weren't any things inside the girls' tummies that we weren't really prepared for", he told reporters.

The sisters, who were brought to Australia with their mother in October, are joined at the torso and share a liver.

She added that any backstop could not leave Northern Ireland aligned to specific sectoral European Union market regulations. Without DUP support for a deal, May will have much less chance of getting her deal through parliament.
