Nevada Voters Elected a Dead Brothel Owner to State Assembly

Dennis Hof, a brothel owner who died last month, overwhelmingly won an election to Nevada's State Assembly on Tuesday.

Democrat Lesia Romanov was left with no living Republican opposition in the race for Nevada's 36th Assembly District - but lost. "In Assembly District 36, nearly 64 percent of the population resides in Nye County, about 34 percent lives in Clark County, and about 3 percent resides in Lincoln County". The state doesn't publicize how many are open, and most owners keep a much lower profile than Hof did. And as tragic as his death was, Hof campaign manager Chuck Muth previously indicated his boss's passing might actually help his electoral chances.

"He died quietly in his sleep", Hof's campaign manager Chuck Muth said at one of the brothels he operated in Crystal, Nevada.

Bob Zmuda, founder of Comic Relief USA told mourners at his funeral that "Dennis lived himself to death" and recalled how Hof told him "I need a relationship because I need someone to cheat on".

NBC's Peter Alexander defended Acosta, saying he is a diligent reporter, but Trump told Alexander he wasn't a fan of his, either. White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders says the suspension came as a result of Acosta "placing his hands on a young woman".

Though Republican leaders in Nye County - where Hof was running - supported him, Nevada's top Republicans did not, according to the newspaper.

Hof died at his Love Ranch brothel on October 16.

The district is heavily rural, containing large desert areas in the southern region of Nevada.

He was, however, not destined to see his political victory after winning his party's primary election; as he was found dead at one of his legal brothels, Love Ranch, after his 72nd birthday party. Former NBA star Lamar Odom was discovered unconscious at the same brothel several years ago but survived.

Rashida Tlaib is one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress and will represent Michigan's 13th Congressional District. Sharice Davids defeated a Republican incumbent in Kansas to become the first openly LGBTQ woman to represent Kansas.

He said an anti-brothel push and regulatory problems he faced this year needed political retribution.

Under Nevada law, Hof's name will remain on the ballot for the November 6 election in the conservative district where he was favored against his Democratic opponent.

Hof was accused of sexual assault at least four times, most recently in September.
