Ginsburg, 85, the oldest member of the high court, is known to keep working until all hours of the night, but she returned home after her fall. The same thing happened in 2012, when she broke two ribs and then went right back to work the next day despite being in pain. She has also reportedly hired law clerks through 2020, sending the message that she plans on sticking around.

For years, the question of her eventual retirement from the court has spurred speculation and sometimes criticism - some Democrats think Ginsburg should have retired during the Obama administration to ensure that her slot on the court would have been filled by a liberal judge.
