Comedian Pete Davidson criticized for mocking injured veteran on SNL

Over the weekend, Thompson's Saturday Night Live cast-mate Pete Davidson found himself embroiled in scandal after making a joke about Texas second Congressional District candidate Dan Crenshaw, who wears an eye-patch because of an injury he sustained while serving as a Navy SEAL in Afghanistan.

While discussing his first impressions of candidates in the 2018 midterm elections, Davidson pulled up a photo of Crenshaw wearing an eyepatch.

Ariana Grande's former fiancé didn't stop there, adding: "I'm sorry, I know he lost his eye in the war or whatever".

Crenshaw served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he lost his right eye and severely damaged his left in the deadly Helmand province after encountering an improvised explosive device six years ago.

He went through Rick Scott and Peter King before arriving at Dan Crenshaw.

Crenshaw detailed the attack that cost him his eye in an interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation in March.

Still, it doesn't look like Crenshaw is looking for an apology.

In a tweet Sunday afternoon, Crenshaw acknowledged the outrage over Davidson's joke.

"I want us to get away from this culture where we demand apologies every time someone misspeaks", he said.

He then echoed his tweet, saying he hopes the comedian and SNL realize "veterans across the country probably don't feel as though their wounds they received in battle should be the subject of a bad punch line".

They're lying to you, ' Obama said. "And I say, all I'm doing is just telling the truth, what can I say?" he said. Again, the audience howled, leading Trump to deadpan: "Then what the hell am I doing here tonight?"

"I do not demand an apology". "I think that would be very healthy for our nation to go in that direction".

"I$3 t wasn't even amusing".

"I know some of you are curious about the breakup, but the truth is, it's nobody's business, and sometimes things just don't work out and that's okay".

The comedian then chose to turn the joke on himself, saying he knows he "shouldn't be making fun of how anyone looks".
