Breast cancer kills 40,000 women every year in Pakistan

Breast cancer survivor Audra Wright from Lisburn is on a mission to help raise awareness of the devastating disease.

Recognized as one of the leading breast cancer organizations in the world, NBCF's mission is to help women by providing help and inspiring hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services.

"People say you are a survivor and I don't agree with that because I never felt like I was in jeopardy", said Bauman, who went through four rounds of chemo and underwent a double mastectomy in April. Over the past five years, the organization has helped almost 300 women. most in their 20's, 30's and early 40's.

Pink Week, from October 15 to 19, is dedicated to breast cancer awareness, and CAC raise funds by selling T-shirts. The most common parts of the body that breast cancer spread to are the lymph nodes in the axilla, bones, liver, lungs and the brain.

Some women with stage IV breast cancer say they feel isolated. A 3-D mammogram exam is nearly identical to the traditional mammogram, and women will notice little difference in the procedure if they've had mammograms in the past.
