Beto O'Rourke Fundraising Triples Ted Cruz's In Texas Senate Race

O'Rourke claims the money came entirely from 802,836 unique contributions.

Last week, Cruz said his campaign had raised more than $12 million during the third quarter and predicted, correctly, that his rival's take for the period would top $30 million.

That $38.1 million fundraising bounty - raised from July 1 to September 30 - is more than Democratic presidential candidates Clinton and Bernie Sanders raised in the third quarter of 2015, when the Democratic presidential primary was raging.

Through the first half of 2018, O'Rourke had already raised an impressive $23.6 million for the cycle and had almost $14 million in cash on hand for the campaign's home stretch.

Astros come alive late to topple Red Sox in ALCS Game 1
In this one, David Price goes for the Red Sox , and he'll be opposed by Gerrit Cole of the Astros . Later in the ninth, first baseman Yuli Gurriel belted a three-run shot and the rout was on.

These fundraising numbers come on the tail of a new Quinnipiac University poll showing that Cruz holds a 9 percentage point lead over O'Rourke. To see more, visit KUT 90.5. Still others pointed out that money, even vast sums, does not necessarily translate to wins - a prime example being Democrat Jon Ossoff's failed 2017 special election bid for a Georgia House seat, which was the most expensive House race ever.

O'Rourke's almost $62 million haul exceeds the amounts raised by 2016 presidential candidates such as former Florida governor Jeb Bush, Sen. Ted Cruz, has for his entire campaign.

Texas Democrat Beto O'Rourke is trailing in the polls in his race to unseat Republican Sen.

Weathering the pouring rain at Fort Worth's Marine Park on Friday, O'Rourke stumped in front of supporters and appeared not to falter in the wake of recent polls that suggest his momentum has stalled. Cruz, and outside groups supporting him, have released a series of attack ads, criticizing O'Rourke for his stance on immigration and his publicly defending NFL player protests during the national anthem. He raised $22 million in the third quarter of that year.

UK Brexit agreement deal set to be announced
Theresa May's leadership and her plans for Brexit are under pressure after a setback in talks with Brussels. But after talks which lasted a little over an hour, it was clear that obstacles remained.

O'Rourke made the disclosure ahead of Monday's deadline for candidates to report their fundraising to the Federal Election Commission.

Similarly, Quinnipiac University showed Cruz ahead by 9 points in a poll of 730 likely voters between October 3-9. Adjusted for inflation, that would be worth $31 million in 2018 dollars, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. And that usually makes the difference in a midterm election.
