Michael Bloomberg reregisters as a Democrat

Tennessee Democratic Senate candidate Phil Bredesen was filmed attending a fundraiser in New York City with multibillionaire - and now official Democrat - Michael Bloomberg.

The billionaire philanthropist posted news of his latest party affiliation on social media, saying that the Democratic party needs to step up and act as a "bulwark" against "those who threaten our Constitution".

Bloomberg flirted with the possibility of running as an independent candidate in the 2016 election, though he ultimately chose to back Hillary Clinton instead when she ran against Donald Trump.

Game 3 of the NLDS between the Dodgers and Braves has a scheduled first pitch today at 8:07 pm EST / 5:07 pm PST. The slugging shortstop, acquired from Baltimore in July, also had a run-scoring double in the first.

Since leaving the New York City mayor's office, Bloomberg has been bankrolling Everytown for Gun Safety along with other left-leaning causes.

The change in party affiliation comes after Bloomberg chose to spend millions in the 2018 election to help elect Democrats.

Bloomberg has drifted between political parties throughout his life - going from Democrat to Republican to independent to, now, Democrat again. The Guardian newspaper reported in August that he was considering running in 2020 as a Democrat.

A tropical storm watch means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area, generally within 48 hours. In addition to the wind, Michael could be a decent rain maker, with several inches of rain possible.

"It's impossible to conceive that I could run as a Republican - things like choice, so numerous issues, I'm just way away from where the Republican Party is today", he told the Times.

"Two years ago at the Democratic Convention, I warned of those threats", the 76-year-old Bloomberg said on Instagram.

Bloomberg did not say when he might make a decision on running for president.

Michael claims at least 11 lives, including 11-year-old girl
A Panhandle man was killed by a tree that toppled on a home, Gadsden County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Anglie Hightower said. Entire roofs were torn away in the town of about 1,000 people, now a scene of utter devastation.

Sarah Bryner, research director at the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, said Bloomberg's contributions put him "near the top if not at the top of donations this cycle". Last week, he announced he was putting $20 million behind Democratic efforts to flip the Senate. He took an indirect swipe at President Donald Trump and his Republican allies, who Bloomberg suggested posed a threat to USA democratic institutions.
