Georgia police called on black man babysitting white kids

Corey Lewis, who is black, said the police were called on him because he was babysitting white children.

Lewis posted a video of his encounter with Cobb County Police on Facebook.

He was out with the 6- and 10-year-olds Sunday when a white woman approached them in a Walmart parking lot. When he told her no, she took matters into her hands by calling the police and making sure to follow the trio until they arrived home.

"I said are you saying that because there's an African American male driving my two white kids, that he was stopped and pulled over and questioned and he said I'm sorry ma'am that's exactly what I'm saying", Mango said.

Their son attends his youth mentor program called "Inspired by Lewis". "It's insane. ... It's 2018 and you see what I've got to deal with". She trailed them until Lewis reached his mother's home.

We are for sure very enthusiastic and very ambitious and we have become stronger and stronger mentality-wise. "I was proud to see the lads do really well and see how proud the country was of the boys".

Cobb County Police said they were just responding to a call of a suspicious person.

"She pulled up alongside us and asked, 'Are the kids OK?'" Lewis tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

'I'm being followed and harassed, ' Lewis tells the cop.

It was the latest in a series of widely reported incidents of people of color being reported to the police while doing lawful activities like golfing too slowly, napping, shopping, canvassing and waiting for a friend at Starbucks.

Parker and Mango said they don't believe that the woman was trying to protect their children because they never showed any signs of being in danger.

Lewis "had to go to a wedding for a week, and every day Nicholas asked when he was coming back", Mango said.

In another Facebook video, Corey said: "All because I got two kids in the backseat who do not look like me, this lady took it upon herself to say that she's going to take my plate down and call the police".

Mr Lewis runs a youth mentoring organisation that teaches life skills to young people with emotional and behaviour issues.

"B-W-B, which I guess is the new thing - babysitting while black", said Parker.

The woman asked if the children were OK, and requested to speak to them. "They weren't crying, they weren't distressed", she said.

CBBC Newsround: What did you think of the royal wedding?
Prince Louis was not pictured arriving at the ceremony and it is not yet known if he attended the wedding brunch. The back of Princess Eugenie's wedding gown was the central talking point as she made her first appearance.

He first noticed her staring at him as he returned to his auto after taking the kids to Subway.
