Jimmy Butler Practices With Timberwolves

Jimmy Butler has requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves, but that didn't stop him from practicing with his teammates Wednesday and creating quite the scene.

Butler has demanded a trade but Thibodeau has reportedly continued to beg him to stay and a near deal with Miami over the weekend fell apart when the Wolves asked for more. Which was probably part of Butler's goal (that and he is frustrated the deal isn't done, even though the timing of his declaration, September 18 right before camps opened, screwed Minnesota over). A deal that would've shipped him to the Heat almost came to fruition over the weekend, but those talks fell apart despite the Heat's efforts to build a package around young players and draft picks.

Butler had been seen working out on his own in the Twin Cities while the Timberwolves have been holding training camp workouts. The Heat reportedly pushed the Timberwoles to "accept a revised offer" for Butler with a deal potentially centered around center Bam Adebayo, guard Josh Richardson and a first-round pick. Butler is said to prefer the Heat over all other potential destinations. Per ESPN, the All-Star swingman practiced Wednesday for the first time since his trade request and it was ... interesting. He can become a free agent at season's end.

The latter happened on Wednesday, but based on reports today and over the past few months, the situation in Minnesota seems toxic and it's tough to envision Butler remaining on the team.
