Jamal Khashoggi: Turkey requests Saudi consulate search

So far, the kingdom has offered no evidence in the past seven days to show that Mr Khashoggi ever left the building, as the new surveillance photo surfaced showed him walking in its main entrance. Some pro-government news outlets have reported that the police were still investigating the possibility that Khashoggi was abducted, not killed.

When was he last seen?

.

The Turkish security establishment had concluded that the killing was directed from the top because only the most senior Saudi leaders could order an operation of such scale and complexity.

The BBC published on Monday an off-air conversation of last interview with disappeared Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

He proposed the Saudi people pave the ground for transferring power to Ahmed bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi King Salman's younger brother who is in exile in Britain, and form a new government based on the constitution.

The disappearance of the prominent critic of the Saudi regime, which comes at a time of strained relations between Saudi Arabia and Turkey, could cause a diplomatic crisis. Nor has the Turkish president disclosed specific evidence to back up that allegation.

In his tweet, @WarCQC cites the @sofarajiz Twitter account which appears to highlight, through tweets, notable entrepreneurs, businessmen and others from Saudi Arabia's Jazan province.

Saudi Consul-General Mohammad al-Otaibi said Saudi officials were searching for the journalist and gave a tour of the consulate to Reuters reporters to prove Khashoggi was not there. Turkish officials have accused the Saudis of imprisoning or murdering him because he criticized Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and his policies related to Qatar, Iran, and political Islam. That need for secrecy could also hamper any efforts to prosecute any Saudi agents involved.

"If he left, you must prove this, you will prove this, even if it's with visuals".

A commentator close to Erdogan's government said so publicly on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Turkey's support of Islamists also has riled Gulf Arab nations, who view groups like the Muslim Brotherhood as a threat. In his dealings with Canada, including a withdrawal of investment, the Saudi ruler has shown he does not tolerate criticism of his country's human rights record.

UMN preps for flu season

Turkey has requested a search of the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, after saying that a journalist was murdered within its walls.

Investigators reportedly believe that Mr Khashoggi's body might have been smuggled out of the consulate in diplomatic vans and then carried onto one of the planes.

The US president told reporters on Monday: "Hopefully that will sort itself out". One place to start is the excellent 2016 book by Medea Benjamin, of Code Pink, called Kingdom of the Unjust: Behind the U.S. -Saudi Connection. While the oil-rich kingdom is spending millions of dollars to paint the crown prince as a reformist moderate, Congress is increasingly concerned over the humanitarian impact of the US-backed Saudi-led war in Yemen while Trump himself has ripped Riyadh amid rising oil prices.

Mr Trump himself said he was concerned, while Secretary of State Mike Pompeo urged a thorough investigation with transparent findings about the fate of Mr Khashoggi, whom Saudi officials insist left the consulate in Istanbul. The media also reported that a 15-member Saudi hit team had arrived in Turkey and entered the consulate shortly before Khashoggi's arrival.
