Heat's Jimmy Butler Trade: What Would Deal Have Included?

According to a report from ESPN and other sources, the Heat have received Butler's medical records from the Timberwolves and appeared to be on the verge of a deal until that agreement fell through. The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson reports that the Heat players short listed by Minnesota also includes Goran Dragic, Kelly Olynyk, and Justise Winslow.

There's still a chance the teams re-open trade talks, Wojnarowski reported, but if Minnesota can't work things out with Miami, it might be in trouble.

The rumor mill this week has been in full effect over the trade status of Minnesota Timberwolves swingman Jimmy Butler. The Los Angeles Clippers, one of the three landing spots Butler initially preferred, were reportedly in talks with Minnesota, along with the Houston Rockets. Minnesota pushed for more, talks fractured.

Talks could pick up again in the future.

Jimmy Butler was open to trading his 'Wolves kit for one of those snazzy Miami Vice singlets, and it nearly happened too.

Thibodeau has said Butler's situation is "fluid" and has repeated many times over the last few weeks that he will make a deal as long as a good deal materializes.

Butler made the All-Star team for his fourth-straight season past year. Considering he's been blatant about his distaste for the Wolves, Butler isn't going to re-sign with Minnesota next offseason when he becomes a free agent.

In any deal with the Clippers, Minnesota would prefer to acquire forward Tobias Harris, sources said.

Butler has been linked with several teams.
