Susan Rice considering 2020 challenge to Collins in Maine

Susan Rice considering 2020 challenge to Collins in Maine

The senator told the Associated Press that the local response has been "overwhelmingly positive", claiming, "Many people have thanked me for my vote and have said that they were very pleased that I did the right thing".

When Sen. Susan Collins announced, on Friday, October 5, that she would be voting "yes" on Brett M. Kavanaugh's confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court, the four-term senator from ME went out of her way to convince Kavanaugh's detractors that he wasn't almost the far-right extremist they thought he was. (She has offered no alternative theory for these seemingly-contradictory positions; perhaps she subscribes to the libelous Ed Whelan Tweet thread theory.) On Sunday, Collins said that she hopes this controversy prompts more women to report their assaults when they occur-a tacit criticism of Ford, even though her assault occurred in an era when victims of sexual assault were (somehow) taken even less seriously than they are today.

Rice, however, said her "ties to ME are long and deep".

She acknowledged on CNN's State of the Union that she'd harbored doubts about Kavanaugh after hearing Ford testify before the Judiciary Committee.

I think probably the lap time flatters us a little bit but we'll see how it is in qualifying tomorrow. In FP2, Hamilton continued to set the pace, posting 1:28.217 on supersoft tyres.

"I have met with so many Mainers that were sexual assault survivors", she told the TV station. "Collins votes no on Kavanaugh or we fund her future opponent" has raised over $3 million for the 2020 race. She said she doesn't believe Kavanaugh would be influenced by the fact that President Trump gave him the job, or that he would work with the other four conservative judges to restrict access to birth control or overturn Roe v. Wade. That-not Kavanaugh's lies, or his troubling judicial record, or Ford's credible testimony about what he did to her-was what Collins felt the need to lecture Americans about.

Rice said Sunday at The New Yorker festival that she appreciated the enthusiasm but said people who're angry about Kavanaugh should focus on the midterm elections.

Kavanaugh is expected to appear on the Supreme Court bench for the first time Tuesday as the court will hear arguments in three criminal cases regarding the so-called three-strikes law, which applies a 15-year mandatory minimum to federal offenders with three previous convictions, Politico reported.

Gideon, who's often clashed with outgoing Republican Gov. Paul LePage, said she's focused on winning more Democratic seats in the Maine House for now.

The firm's '#MadeByGoogle' event kicks off at 11a.m. (ET) on Tuesday and is hosting a livestream of all the announcements. Unless Google is still guarding a special feature , virtually everything is known about the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL .

We're already starting to get an idea of who might challenge Collins in 2020. "Everybody knows that", Ms. Collins said. "He perhaps needs to withdraw, "' she said.

Democrats charged that the White House prevented the Federal Bureau of Investigation from doing a thorough probe that might have run down leads, and multiple Yale classmates of Kavanaugh's tried to contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation but say they were not interviewed.

"They are asking me to perform an official act and if I do not do what they want, $2 million plus is going to go to my opponent".

The Maine Senator also said in a Friday speech that Kavanaugh places high importance on previous court decisions.
