Spinner Kuldeep Yadav starred in India's biggest-ever Test triumph as they thrashed the West Indies by an innings and 272 runs inside three days in the opening match on Saturday.

Even before stepping on the green pitch of Rajkot, the Men in Blue were heavily touted to thrash the travelling West Indies side.

Nearly all Indian batsmen reaped the benefit of lacklustre West Indies bowling, with three centuries in the first innings, including Prithvi Shaw, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja.

Opener Kieran Powell was the only batsman to make a significant contribution with 83 off 93 balls, which included eight boundaries and four sixes.

After India had declared on 649-9 in its first and only innings, it ran through the West Indies batting line-up in 48 overs to set up an imposing 468-run lead.

Powell added 47 runs for the second wicket with Shai Hope (17) and later another 41 runs with Chase (20) for the fifth wicket. The intruders were taken out of the ground but by then, the photos of them self-shooting with the Indian captain went viral.
