VP Pence accuses China of interfering in United States politics, IP theft

In his address on Thursday Pence attacked nearly every aspect of China's activities in trade, the economy, military, religion and people-to-people exchanges.

Pence was to deliver an address at the Hudson Institute think tank in Washington, which is likely to increase tensions between the United States and China beyond trade disputes.

"There can be no doubt, " he said, "China is meddling in America's democracy".

"Beijing has mobilized covert actors, front groups, and propaganda outlets to shift Americans' perception of Chinese policies", Mr. Pence will say.

"What the Russians are doing pales in comparison to what China is doing across this country and the American people deserve to know".

Vettel needs Suzuka surprise to stay in title race
Valtteri Bottas has pledged to abide by team orders again if called upon by Mercedes to act as Lewis Hamilton's assistant. Bottas was in complete control of the race only for Mercedes to instruct him to step aside with 30 laps remaining.

His speech marked a sharpened United States approach toward China that goes beyond the bitter trade war between the world's two biggest economies and includes disputes about cyber activities, Taiwan, freedom of the seas and human rights.

The speech, which will likely strain relations further, came days after a Chinese military vessel almost collided with a US Navy ship in the waters around the disputed Spratly Islands in the South China Sea. Mr. Pence will also point to a port project in Sri Lanka that Beijing helped finance and now may become a forward military base for China's navy.

Google's modified search engine - codenamed "Dragonfly" - would "strengthen Communist Party censorship and compromise the privacy of Chinese customers", Pence said. As proof, Trump later referenced a paid advertising insert in The Des Moines Register by Chinese government-affiliated entities. "Can't talk now, because they're not ready, " Trump said on Monday after announcing a new trade pact with Canada and Mexico at the White House. The Ministry also slammed the accusations that China is somehow trying to meddle in U.S. internal affairs, noting that it has "no interest" in local American infighting.

The Chinese tariffs "specifically targeted industries and states that would play an important role in the 2018 election, " he said.

The allegations have raised questions about whether Mr Trump and his aides are trying to deflect attention from an investigation into his campaign's possible ties to Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, and also set China up for the blame if Republicans do poorly in next month's elections.

Hours after US Vice President Mike Pence delivered a major foreign policy speech on China, the US National Security Advisor John Bolton said Thursday much of the information about Chinese malign activities remain in the classified domain. China's strategic tariffs have been interpreted as an effort to support congressional opposition to Trump's trade policies.

"Chinese security agencies have masterminded the wholesale theft of American technology, including cutting-edge military blueprints and using that stolen technology".

Pence also assailed China over its actions in the South China Sea, where the US has criticized the Chinese government for building military bases on reclaimed reefs.

Pence also said more USA companies should think twice before entering the Chinese market if it means turning over their intellectual property. China accused the USA of violating its "indisputable sovereignty".

"The United States Navy will continue to fly, sail and operate wherever global law allows and our national interests demand".

"We have no interest in meddling in USA internal affairs and elections", Hua said.

Trump has justified his tough trade policy against Beijing with accusations that China steals USA intellectual property, limits access to its own market and unfairly subsidize state-owned companies.

Friend of Kavanaugh accuser disputes polygraph controversy
Where is the place? I was not one of those people. "I can't think of anything more - inappropriate is not descriptive enough". Ford and her attorneys have thus far refused to provide all polygraph-related documents and media to the Senate for review.

Pence also weighed in on Beijing's effort to diplomatically isolate Taiwan's China-skeptic president, Tsai Ing-wen.
