49ers won't bring in Colin Kaepernick in QB search

He is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's season-ending knee injury last Sunday occurred less than three games into a massive contract extension that established him as one of the highest-paid players in National Football League history. Among the ideas to salvage the year was to sign Colin Kaepernick, who was on the team from 2011-2016 and led the 49ers to the 2012 Super Bowl.

Garoppolo had gone 20-of-30 for 251 yards for two touchdown and no interceptions before leaving the game. This season, he's been with the New Orleans Saints, but has not played a game. While he hasn't been quite as efficient as he was late a year ago after being acquired at the trade deadline from New England for a second-round pick, the Niners offense has been far more potent than it was before he took over as quarterback. "It really helps having gone through it and having that experience".
