Trump says no Federal Bureau of Investigation probe needed on Supreme Court pick

The hearing represents a potential make-or-break moment for the conservative federal appeals court judge's confirmation chances for the lifetime post on the top U.S. court, as Mr Trump seeks to continue his goal of moving the federal judiciary to the right.

Anita Hill - whose sex-harassment allegations against Clarence Thomas almost derailed his appointment to the US Supreme Court in 1991 - took a swipe at the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday as it grappled with accusations against a new nominee.

Republican leadership on the Judiciary Committee have questioned the timing of the revelation of Ford's letter and her allegation, coming just as the committee was preparing to vote on the nomination on Thursday. Other people at the party could testify about whether the party was similar to how Ford described it and whether Kavanaugh was there.

"I will tell you I have been very, very clear with employees here that it is not our jobs to cover politics, purely", Pitaro said last month.

Over 200 women who attended the same school as Brett Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford, including actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, have signed a letter in her support. Chuck Grassley, said he wants to set up phone calls with Kavanaugh and Ford, but did not say he would postpone the vote. "So we have a he-said-she-said situation that boils down to nothing, and if this really did happen, that's a shame".

Kavanaugh's nomination has been threatened by a woman's allegation that he sexually assaulted her when they were high schoolers.

Liberal senators sitting on the Senate Judiciary Committee are using this to call for a postponement of the final decision on Kavanaugh's nomination.

Given the long time span since the alleged incident, senators and the public must rely on their assessment of each character's version rather than hard evidence.

Asked if the allegations being true would be disqualifying, Scott responded, "Well if the allegation is proven to be true, of course".

"This is mainly an opportunity to accommodate her". We believe Dr. Blasey Ford and are grateful that she came forward to tell her story. John Cornyn, R-Texas, the Senate Republican whip, told reporters. "I have never done anything like what the accuser describes-to her or to anyone", he said.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said an FBI investigation is "essential" to prevent the hearing from becoming merely a "he said, she said affair".

Because we came here and tried to do it, you need a really outstanding performance - and that was what the boys delivered today. Both teams eventually fell to winners Real Madrid but will be hoping to go all the way this term.

Unlike Republicans, some Democrats were calling for the FBI to launch a full investigation into the matter before proceeding with additional witness testimony.

The confirmation fight comes just weeks before the November 6 congressional elections in which Democrats are seeking to take control of Congress from Trump's party, which could be a major blow to the president's agenda.

US President Donald Trump said earlier he expected "a little delay" to confirming his nominee. "If they wanted to be I would certainly do that".

The FBI has not commented on Trump's contention that the agency does not want to get involved. She said President George H.W. Bush had asked the FBI to investigate Anita Hill's allegations against Thomas.

Democrats who do not sit on the Judiciary Committee were also joining their colleagues' calls for the FBI to investigate before proceeding to a committee hearing.

Manley was a young Senate staffer in 1991 when Anita Hill's sexual harassment accusations against then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas roiled Capitol Hill.

Hugo Lloris will remain as Tottenham captain on return from injury
Tottenham will want to bounce back from the defeat to Watford when they take on high-flying Liverpool at Wembley this afternoon. I am not anxious , I promise you. "I trust completely in my squad, not 100 percent but 200 percent".

Senator Dianne Feinstein, the committee's top Democrat, on Tuesday said the FBI should investigate before further hearings into the claims.

"Scheduling a hearing for Monday, a week from when Dr. Ford made her accusations public is a shameful attempt to jam this through without giving anyone the time they need to investigate and put together the questions that need to be asked", Murray said.

Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee ranking member Sen. Hill joined Gwen Ifill in 2016 to look back at the case, her experience and how it would have been different today. Thomas was ultimately confirmed, but only after a nasty televised hearing in which Hill faced pointed questions from Republican senators and the nominee said he was the victim of "a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks".

"The important thing is to get this investigated", said Sen.

Mike Zimmer gives ruthless answer on Daniel Carlson cut
Thomas says missed field goals have haunted Vikings fans for so many years, it's easy to lose confidence in a kicker like Carlson. After his first field goal attempt in OT sailed wide right, Minnesota went back to Carlson to kick a 35-yard would-be victor .
