Yet Another Trump Official Investigated for Misusing Government Funds on Travel

Politico said Long began using a staff driver for his trips home from Washington when his term began past year, and that aides also traveled with him at taxpayer expense.

The DHS IG is examining whether Long misused government vehicles and personnel for his six-hour drives between his home in North Carolina and FEMA headquarters in Washington, DC, Politico reported.

While DHS employees must typically be authorized to use government vehicles for personal use, like what Long has done, there are special exceptions for the FEMA administrator.

"I would never intentionally run a program incorrectly", Long said. "Doing something unethical is not part of my DNA and it's not part of my track record my whole entire career so we'll work with the OIG", he continued.

She also repeatedly referenced Meghan's former best friend Ninaki Priddy. Royal fans went wild once the photo was posted. She said Meghan should "bow to the daddy".

Also at issue is Long's use of staff drivers for some of those trips back and forth, and travel expenses those aides incurred. "We will work with the OIG".

FEMA Administrator Brock Long, center, speaks to members of the media after briefing President Donald Trump on Hurricane Florence in the Oval Office at the White House Sept. 11, 2018 in Washington.

Both FEMA and ICE are agencies managed by DHS.

Long reportedly began having a government driver take him home since he took control of FEMA a year ago.

Hurricane Florence likely to track over South Carolina, Cause Rain in Triad
North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper predicted that tens of thousands of homes and businesses would be flooded in his state. The impact of storm surge on the coast will depend on whether the storm's arrival coincides with high tide.

Long said, however, that right now he is focused on the incoming hurricane. The documents said the money, about nine-tenths of one percent of FEMA's annual budget, would be transferred from FEMA's "Preparedness and Protection" and "Response and Recovery" undertakings to pay for detention beds and ICE's Transportation and Removal Program.

"All questions about any potential investigation by the Office of the Inspector General should be directed to the IG".

Puerto Rico's government has asked for additional federal support to conclude the repairs, according to an appeal the USA island territory submitted to FEMA on August 30.

Over 1 million residents of coastal states including North Carolina and SC were ordered to evacuate as of Thursday afternoon, ahead of the expected landfall of Hurricane Florence on Friday. Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin was sacked in March amid questionable travel charges and a growing rebellion in his agency about the privatization of medical care.

Boarding up his home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Chris Pennington watched the forecasts and tried to decide when to leave. A large tropical system, hurricane-force winds extend outward from Florence's center of circulation for eighty miles.
