Microsoft adds three years support for Windows 7 - Security - Software

Today, Microsoft is rolling out a new preview build of Windows 10 October 2018 Update with a series of improvements and bug fixes.

The new policy builds on and extends the commitments made in February this year.

Spataro went on explain that the Extended Security Updates (ESU) would be available to all Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Enterprise customers in the software giant's volume licencing program, sold on a per device basis with the cost increasing every year.

Rafael Nadal defeats Dominic Thiem in US Open quarter-final
But there has to be one. "It's cruel, sometimes, tennis", Thiem said, calling the loss "the first really epic match I've played". The reigning US Open champion will meet another veteran, the Argentine 2009 victor Juan Martin del Potro, in the next round.

Microsoft has been fairly aggressive in getting people to upgrade to Windows 10 and then update the platform.

However, the 30-month support will only be available to those running the Enterprise or Education editions of Windows 10.

In between those twice-yearly updates, Microsoft sends out monthly cumulative releases. But the good news is that if you are running 1607, 1703, 1709 or 1803, those releases will now be supported for 30 months from their release date.

Trump had in a tweet claimed the company was "getting absolutely killed with anger and boycotts" because of the ad. Tiger Woods on Friday called the ad a "beautiful spot".

Now though, Microsoft has taken on board the moans (well done, chaps, it's only taken two and a bit years) and will be upping this to a much more realistic 30 months - two and a half years - which allows them to offer more time and save face that it is still worth the upgrade for us muggles. Microsoft says feature updates will have a split support timeframe. Microsoft also mounted two glitches affecting PWAs or Innovative Net Apps, which started to appear within the Microsoft Store earlier this twelve months alongside the Home windows 10 April 2018 change, the important version of Home windows 10 to boost PWAs. According to Microsoft blog, more details on this new service will be shared at Ignite and will possibly begin to preview this service on 1 October 2018 in North America. If some user faces any problem, he/she can file a ticket via Microsoft FastTrack service.

Windows 7 is otherwise scheduled to exit extended support by January 2020. While leading companies like Mars and Accenture have successfully shifted to modern desktop using the regular updates, many customers shared their feedback that they need more time and flexibility in the Windows 10 update cycle. The new biannual schedule was also aligned with other products like Office 365 ProPlus. That's being extended to also cover Windows 8.1, up until January 2023, and Windows Server 2016, up until October 2025.

The plan is not unheard of (Windows XP continued to quietly receive fixes-for-a-fee for some time) if you paid enough, though it is highly unusual for Microsoft to be quite so public about its offering. The price for ESUs will increase each year as well.

Notably, Office 365 ProPlus will continue to be supported on Windows 8.1 through January 2023, which is the end of support date for Windows 8.1.
