Ford recalls 2M pickup trucks; including 340,000 in Canada

About 2 million Ford F-150 pickup trucks are being recalled due to an odd problem with seat-belt equipment.

Ford has received 17 reports of smoke or fire in the US and 6 in Canada. There have been no reports of injuries as a result.

The vehicles were built at the Dearborn and Kansas City assembly plants between March 12, 2014 and August 23, 2018.

She is half Japanese and half Haitian-American so she doesn't look typically Japanese but her name is very traditional Japanese. Williams, beaten by Angelique Kerber in the Wimbledon final in July, won 6-3 6-0 against Latvian 19th seed Sevastova.

In the North American market, an estimated 1,995,776 vehicles are affected by the seatbelt pretensioner issue, with 1,619,112 of those sold in the United States, 339,884 sold in Canada, and 36,780 in Mexico. The company said the cost would be reflected in third-quarter earnings but Ford left unchanged its guidance for full-year 2018 adjusted earnings.

The recall is expected to begin September 24, 2018.

The Fix: Dealers will remove insulation material and wiring harness tape from the B-pillar and install heat-resistant tape to the carpet and its insulation. Regular-cab variants will also have their back interior panels modified.

Some pretensioners are mechanical, but a lot of modern units use small explosive charges to rapidly tighten the belt.

There were five complaints alleging fires following the activation of seat-belt pretensioners, the NHTSA said. The B-pillar in question is found between the doors, and separates the front and back seat area of the vehicle.

After about three fires were reported, the NHTSA and Ford together inspected one of the trucks on June 28, The Associated Press reported.

Uber also claimed that passengers would have to receive several one-star reviews to have their rating drop to four stars or below. Once a trip is completed, drivers will only be able to see the general area where a trip started and ended, without addresses.

From April through June, Ford got six more reports of fires in 2015, 2017 and 2018 pickups and found the potential for excessive sparks in the pretensioners. When sufficient sparks are present, gases exhausted inside lower portion of the B-pillar by the pretensioners may ignite.
