The 46-year-old singer was found submerged in the bathtub in her London hotel room in January after drinking an excessive amount of alcohol, expert witnesses told Westminster Coroner's Court, Ireland's RTE television and Britain's Sky News reported.

Coroner Shirley Radcliffe in London ruled that the cause of death was accidental drowning due to intoxication, but found no evidence of injuries or self harm.

Cranberries lead singer Doloros O'Riordan's death has been determined to be a "tragic accident".

Today would have been Dolores' 47th birthday.

It appeared to contradict USA police by adding authorities found no evidence of misconduct and released Liu to continue his trip. Gray said he and Friedberg would represent Liu if charges are filed, but called that prospect "a very remote possibility".

The inquest, which was attended by O'Riordan's mother, brother and sister-in-law, heard that the singer checked into the hotel on January 14.

The Cranberries, pictured in 1996, have issued a statement about O'Riordan. "On January 15 she was found deceased in her hotel room". "Today we continue to come to terms with what happened".

The singer had also spoken in interviews about being sexually abused as a child, her battles with depression and a diagnosis of bipolar disorder.

"Dolores will live on eternally in her music", the band added.

In 2016 The Cranberries resumed touring but a back illness suffered by O'Riordan forced the cancellation of many shows across Europe and the United States previous year.
