James Gunn Won't Be Back for Guardians of the Galaxy 3

James Gunn Won't Be Back for Guardians of the Galaxy 3

The entertainment conglomerate surprised many July 20 when it fired Gunn from the upcoming Marvel Studios sequel after years-old offensive tweets about rape and pedophilia made by the filmmaker were unearthed by some of his right-wing detractors.

Almost a month after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn was sacked from the third installment in the franchise by Disney, the director's fans and coworkers are still not giving up on trying to convince Disney to hire him back, and recent reports claimed that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was even fighting to keep Gunn on board. Gunn's script from the film will reportedly still be used to some degree, dependent on the director Marvel chooses to hire. However, it seems that Disney will not reverse their decision to remove Gunn from Guardians 3. We'll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding the Disney/Gunn situation, as well as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, as more information becomes available.

Gunn was let go from the project almost a month ago when dozens of Gunn's tweets from almost a decade ago came to light. However, it still ended with Disney and Marvel giving the ol' fuck you to the director who's made them billions of dollars.

The meeting was said to be "civil and professional", but sources have claimed that Horn will not be changing his stance and they will continue production of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 without James. Feige pushed for Gunn's reinstatement but will stand by the decision not to bring him back.
