Jose Mourinho: Every Premier League match will be tough this season

For the first time since the summer transfer window was opened in 2003 teams in England decided that they wanted to close the window in time for the start of the Premier League season.

The English Premier League's (EPL) transfer window closed on August 9 with more than 1 billion euros spent by the teams.

Bridge said: "If you look at the top 10 individual players, you've got three players over £60m, reportedly, and another six over £30m so the value of the players appears to be steadily nudging up each year".

This is the fourth time that the sides have met on the opening weekend of a Premier League season, making it the most contested of any curtain-raising fixture.

Vardy pulled a goal back for Leicester in stoppage time to give them some reward for a good performance against last season's runners-up.

United comes into the season bogged down by bad news largely linked to its coach, Jose Mourinho, who made it clear he didn't get the players - particularly a central defender - he was hoping for in the transfer window.

Preparing for their first Premier League campaign in four years, Fulham added five players, including midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa from Marseille, goalkeeper Sergio Rico from Sevilla and forward Luciano Vietto on loan from Atletico Madrid. Everton were the third-highest spending club last summer but ended the season eighth.

After an insignificant transfer window, during which Mourinho roped in only three new acquisitions in Lee Grant, Fred and Diogo Dalot, Manchester United lacked options for their midfield sector. American owner Shahid Khan has funded the recruitment of 12 players for the west London club.

"I'm not sure because I am going to decide tomorrow [Saturday] on the first 11, but Ainsley is the player who started the last match against Lazio".

Asked to choose between being the first side to retain the Premier League title in nearly ten years and winning the coveted Champions League, most Manchester City fans would probably choose the latter.

Brighton, meanwhile, engaged in a flurry of deadline-day activity, including signing right-back Martin Montoya from Valencia.

"The group we have here is unbelievable, it's one of the best changing rooms I've been involved in".

We're livestreaming the Perseid meteor shower
As long as they are not obscured by skies, all you need to do is find a big open space with minimal light pollution. But you don't have to look that direction to see the show - the meteors can appear anywhere in the sky overhead.
