Leonard - who submitted a letter to the San Antonio Express-News - thanked the Spurs organization, its fans and head coach Gregg Popovich.

Leonard is known as a very private and quiet athlete, but on Thursday he did release his first statement and while it's full of "thank you's" towards his former club, there's no mention about his new team.

"There is not a more passionate or dedicated fan base than what I've witnessed in San Antonio", he wrote.

"While I'm looking forward to the next chapter in my career", Leonard wrote.

"Through ups and downs - glad there were many more ups!"

Alongside of a clip of his entrance to the match, he tweeted: " Thank you Anfield for this reception! ". Liverpool host West Ham on Sunday in their Premier League opener.


"It's cool to see all the kids excited to hang out with us, and I'm excited to hang out with them", White said.

The 2014 Finals MVP played only nine games last season, after being sidelined with a nagging right quad injury.

Leonard was a two-time All-Star in seven seasons with the Spurs. Leonard, who was craving Los Angeles, reportedly was not happy to be shipped out of the country, and his letter did not address the Raptors.
