Iran's Foreign Minister Zarif: US will not stop Iran oil exports

The Rodong Sinmun also ran a story on Wednesday appearing to support Iran's own recent pushback against the USA, saying the "threats and sanctions regime can not affect the will and spirit of the Iranian people".

Also on Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said it was hard to imagine new talks with the USA with its erratic decision-making.

Photos posted to the Office of the President's website show Ri and Hassan Rouhani joined by four others from the North Korean delegation sitting across from Iranian counterparts. It also follows Trump's June meeting with Kimin Singapore.

He met with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Tuesday.

A United Nations panel of experts has expressed concern over military collaboration between Iran and North Korea in the past.

"Improving relations with Iran and confronting unilateralism is North Korea's strategic policy", Ri said in response.

He has said the deal "failed to achieve the fundamental objective of blocking all paths to an Iranian nuclear bomb" and did not address Tehran's "malign activities, including its ballistic missile programme and its support for terrorism".

He said he considered the USA pullout from the nuclear deal and re-imposition of sanctions to be "incorrect". Tehran has maintained that its missiles are not created to carry nuclear weapons.

Media captionUS-Iran sanctions: What do they mean? But he says the US military is "paying attention", and will "remain ready to protect ourselves".

And like Kim Jong Un's government, Iran argues that sanctions are not conducive to negotiations.

He said: "There is a big difference this time".

Meanwhile, the White House has said Pyongyang has yet to take a decisive effort to denuclearize.

"Confidence is not a sentiment to be cultivated overnight", he said.
