Hurricane Hector set to pass south of Hawaii

Hurricane Hector, with 130 mph winds, is about 540 miles east-southeast of Hilo.

"Far northern fringes of the hurricane will brush the Big Island Wednesday", forecasters said in an update.

"If it does, it will become Typhoon Hector".
