After Alex Jones Social Media Ban, We Could Be Next

Dorsey said Twitter didn't suspend Jones or "Infowars" because "he hasn't violated our rules".

Infowars host Alex Jones has been booted off Facebook, Apple, Spotify, and YouTube for violating the companies' hate-speech guidelines.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey tweeted Tuesday that InfoWars founder Alex Jones has not been banned from the platform because he "he hasn't violated our rules".

But what was really striking was what Jack Dorsey and the Twitter Safety team went on to say about the general principles regarding fake news and conspiracy theories on the platform.

Mateo Kovacic 'nearing Chelsea loan move'
The agreement between the clubs will be announced in the next few hours and Kovacic will soon depart for London to embark on his new adventure.

Now, it appears that Alex Jones is more cautious on Twitter than elsewhere so may well have stayed within the social network's rules. Nevertheless, he said that Twitter will "enforce if he does" and will "continue to promote a healthy conversational environment by ensuring that tweets aren't artificially amplified".

With a series of bans and content removal by major technology firms, Jones has complained that there is a coordinated "big tech" agenda to silence him. He is perhaps most notorious for claiming that the 2012 Sandy Hook mass school shooting, which left 26 children and adults dead, was a hoax and that the surviving relatives are paid actors. "We'll enforce if he does", he said.

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey speaks at an event in London on November 20, 2014.

A set of new rules on "hateful conduct and abusive behavior", implemented by Twitter at the end of past year, added additional content, such as "hateful imagery", to the category of material banned because it constitutes "specific threats of violence or wishing for serious physical harm, death, or disease to an individual or group of people".

Margot Robbie Shares First Look As Sharon Tate In New Tarantino Film
The movie will reportedly feature Burt Reynolds , Luke Perry, Dakota Fanning and Al Pacino - playing Rick's agent, among others. Robbie will play Sharon Tate in the star-studded drama that is set against the backdrop of the Manson family murders.

A decision late Sunday by Apple to erase virtually all of Jones's podcasts from iTunes and its podcast apps set off a cascade.

"We've been banned completely on Facebook, Apple and Spotify", Jones tweeted on Monday.

Several users on Twitter pointed out the seeming inconsistency of Twitter's policies.

But Dorsey put the onus on journalists to "document, validate, and refute such information directly so people can form their own opinions".
