Plane crash in Staples parking lot kills five near Los Angeles

Los Angeles reported the plane went down around 12:30 p.m. local time.

The crash site is about one mile northwest of the northern end of the runway at John Wayne Orange County Airport.

The crash occurred in the parking lot of a shopping complex that includes Staples, a CVS drug store and a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant. He said it appeared that the plane "went down pretty abruptly", and added that while the plane leaked jet fuel, it didn't ignite.
