Trump Insults Lebron James' Intelligence After NBA Star Calls Him Divisive

President Donald Trump fired off on Twitter Friday night, targeting Los Angeles Laker LeBron James over his interview earlier in the week with CNN's Don Lemon.

In an interview with CNN, James said he thought the president had used sports to "divide" the USA, adding it was something he "can't relate to". "I can't sit back and not say nothing", James said of Trump's actions.

In an interview with CNN's Don Lemon aired earlier in the week, the LA Lakers star said Trump had stirred racial tensions in USA sports in an attempt to "divide" the nation.

It's no secret that LeBron James and President Donald Trump don't see eye-to-eye, and that seems to have upset one of the two parties.

In 2013, Mr Trump tweeted: "Lebron is a great player and a great guy!"

Trump then, unexpectedly, appeared to weigh in on the growing debate over who is the greatest National Basketball Association player of all time, James or Michael Jordan, by writing "I like Mike!"

In the interview, James said he "would never sit across" from Trump, though he would talk to former President Barack Obama. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders did not return a request for comment, nor did James's agency Klutch Sports Group.

James described Trump as a "bum" following the furor. Last September, James took to Twitter to drag the president for lashing out at Warriors guard Steph Curry for refusing to visit the White House after winning the championship.

Indeed, this week's exchange is just the latest in a long-running feud between James and the president.

James has said that Trump "doesn't understand the power that he has for being the leader of this lovely country".
