Boeing crew-capsule mission delayed after abort engines fail in test

NASA is making crew assignments now for the Boeing Crew Flight Test and SpaceX Demo-2 to support flight training as we return to launching our astronauts from American soil.

The Expedition 56 crew has finished loading Dragon with sensitive research results and station gear for analysis and refurbishment back on Earth.

The ground controllers will use the space station's Canadarm2 robotic arm to detach Dragon from the Earth-facing side of the station's Harmony module and manoeuvre the vehicle into its release position. NASA will broadcast video of the announcement, and you can watch live starting around 11 a.m. EDT via the embed at the end of this post.

Engine flaw delays Boeing test of crew capsule to 2019

On Friday, NASA is expected to announce which of four astronauts will ride on test flights and maiden voyages of the Starliner and SpaceX's Crew Dragon, which arrived at Cape Canaveral last month. But the schedule has repeatedly moved to the right for SpaceX as well as Boeing, due to setbacks ranging from SpaceX's launch pad blow-up in 2016 to Boeing's engine valve problems this June.

Who Will Be Part of the Commercial Crew?

On Friday, the space agency plans to announce crews for the first flights of SpaceX's Crew Dragon and Boeing's CST-100 Starliner.

John Kelly says he accepted Trump's request to stay on through 2020
Almost a month after Porter's resignation, Kelly admitted that he mishandled his response to the allegations against Porter. Porter was sacked , and amid the fallout, other aides said Kelly lost some of his clout with the President.

Since then, astronauts have relied on Russian Soyuz spacecraft to transport them to and from the orbiting space station.

Johnson Space Center Director Mark Geyer and Kennedy Space Center Director Bob Cabana will join Bridenstine and representatives from Boeing and SpaceX to introduce the crews.

Dreier said it's unlikely Congress would reverse itself one year later and cut the NASA science programs, especially as the Republican-controlled chamber is seeking to pass a budget with minimal partisan fighting over relatively small expenditures.

Eight experts debate the future of Tesla ahead of earnings
But with low cash reserves, investors have anxious that Tesla would need to borrow more money to keep the company afloat. That credit will be halved for Tesla buyers next year and dwindle down to zero in the following months.

According to Investor's Business Daily, it looks like Elon Musk's company might beat Boeing to the punch and be the first to launch its astronaut-ferrying vehicle to the ISS. Crew for Boeing's Crew Flight Test and SpaceX's Demo-2 flights will each include at least a flight commander and pilot aboard to test out the systems. However, Boeing announced Wednesday a delay for its first crewed launch.

In March, SpaceX performed two parachute tests, the company's 14th and 15th overall parachute test supporting Crew Dragon development in the Mojave Desert in Southern California. The uncrewed test flight will not take place before the end of 2018 or early 2019 and the crewed test flight in mid-2019. Nominally, two astronauts will be on each test flight.

These flight tests will have similar configurations to the uncrewed tests, but the crew will have the ability to interface with spacecraft displays, communicate with mission control, and practice manual controls during flight.

Apple’s Next iPad Pro Might Ditch the Headphone Jack
The incorporation of the new touch sensor technology is also the reason manufacturers can go for bezels as low as just 0.5mm. This would mean that the tablets will feature a beveled design similar to the iPhone SE - however, this is unlikely.
