Trump takes U-turn, now blames Putin for 2016 USA poll meddling..

The latest cover of Time magazine has once again taken aim at President Donald Trump, merging his image with that of Russian President Vladimir Putin. At the Helsinki summit, Putin said that he and Trump had agreed on the need to work to preserve current arms control treaties that govern the two countries' nuclear arsenals and which have recently been under increasing strain. "He Got Way More Than He Bargained For", explores what Bennett calls Trump's "baffling" defense of Russian Federation and friendliness toward Putin at the expense of America's North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies and the US's own intelligence community. Hours later, the White House asserted that Trump's response to a question had been misconstrued.

But he said certain forces in the U.S. want the U.S. -Russia relationship to fail and are feeding millions of Americans stories to serve their own interests.

Putin told Russian diplomats that US-Russian relations are "in some ways worse than during the Cold War" but that his Monday summit with Trump allowed them to start on "the path to positive change".

"A year and a half into his presidency, Trump's puzzling affinity for Putin has yet to be explained", Bennett wrote. "And I would say that that is true, yeah".

The poll shows that the vast majority - 79 percent - of Republicans approve of how Mr. Trump handled himself at the joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin. "We are doing MUCH better than any other country!" the United States president tweeted on Thursday.

"The Summit with Russian Federation was a great success, except with the real enemy of the people, the Fake News Media", Mr Trump wrote on Twitter.

Following the meeting, Trump faced wide criticism from both Republican and Democratic lawmakers for not directly condemning Putin for trying to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.

"I've known Vladimir Putin for a long time, met him first in 1991", McFaul told MSNBC's "Morning Joe". I think that the United States has been foolish.

The White House is facing further criticism for not ruling out a Russian proposal to question USA citizens accused by the Kremlin of "illegal activities". "The combining of faces is a different way for people to see what they couldn't see before".

She said the USA hopes Putin will have the indicted Russians "come to the United States to prove their innocence or guilt".

And nothing would mean more for him than to win a pro championship, albeit a summer league title, in front of friends and family. It looks like LeBron James has lots of reasons to get excited about the new chapter of his career with the Los Angeles Lakers .

On Thursday, the White House said Trump "disagrees" with Putin's offer to swap the questioning of 12 Russians accused of 2016 election interference for an interview with the former USA ambassador.

That rhetoric marked a turnabout from Trump's first, upbeat description of the sit-down. The New START treaty, which was agreed to by President Barack Obama and President Dmitry Medvedev, confirmed and expanded Cold War-era commitments by Russian Federation and the reduce their deployed nuclear warheads. When asked the question Wednesday, he answered "no", a reply that put him sharply at odds with recent public warnings from his own intelligence chief. The White House says Trump is weighing the offer.

But beyond the controversy over Trump's remarks, there were broad unanswered questions as to what - if anything - was agreed during his one-on-one discussions with Putin in Helsinki. Jeff Glor: "But you haven't condemned Putin specifically".

Paul Ryan also expressed some displeased words for Donald Trump in regards to the Putin meeting.
