Houston Police Arrest Possible Serial Killer

Jose Gilberto Rodriguez was seen driving a vehicle that belonged to one of his victims before he was captured Tuesday morning, according to Houston television station KTRK.

Police spent days searching for Rodriguez, who they said was considered armed and extremely unsafe, and warned residents not to take action if they encountered him.

Rodriguez was taken into custody without incident Tuesday morning after leading police on a chase, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said at a news conference Tuesday.

"We need the community to help us find this vehicle as soon as possible if you spot it do not approach it do not approach this individual contact 911 right away", Chief Acevedo says. Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo on Tuesday said there aren't enough law enforcement officers focusing on holding parolees accountable and he promised to set the standard in Harris County. Local news media reported that the suspect was a registered sex offender.

Rodriguez is now being charged with two counts of murder, with a third count expected to be filed Wednesday, according to KPRC.

Police are looking for a dark gray Nissan Sentra stolen from the scene.

Authorities, who believe Rodriguez was on the hunt for his next victim when he was caught, have not offered details on the evidence allegedly linking him to the crimes.

Deputies said they believe that Rodriguez was casing the area where his parents lived in search of another victim.

Police said it's possible the suspect's crime spree started with a home invasion in the 1200 block of Foxburo Drive in northwest Harris County on July 9. Last September, Rodriguez made parole and was released from prison. The first was Pamela Johnson, who was found dead in her home.

The following day, Rodriguez allegedly shot and killed Allie Barrow, 28, inside a Mattress Firm near the mall.

He added: "Half of Great Britain seems to make a fortune selling pictures of my daughter and her husband". He continued, "That might be just having a couple of bad days".

Rodriguez allegedly took her PT Cruiser and dumped it in a mall parking lot.

So far, police have declined to reveal a motive or whether the victims were randomly targeted.

Police say Rodriguez killed three people since Friday.

Mall surveillance video showed a man, believed to be Rodriguez, walking through the mall and exiting the opposite side. Authorities say Rodriguez should be considered extremely risky and possibly armed and should not be engaged if you encounter him. Her manager found her body between two mattresses at the store late Saturday.
