"She looks like a skater but she moves like a puck".

So, despite her straight-sets defeat in the final to Kerber, who's winning a Grand Slam after 22 months, Serena has done incredibly well.

During the tournament, Kerber has been fairly more dominant in the shorter rallies, ending in no more than four shots but Serena got the better of the German on two tricky short balls, that Kerber couldn't get back. Williams' return to the court and near title comes shortly after she struggled through a complicated pregnancy. But she admitted there was some nervy moments, particularly at the end. "I was really happy to get this far", Williams during an on-court interview with the BBC. It's always an honor to share the court with her.

Williams battled it ou with 11th-seeded Angelique Kerber. Kerber, the 30 year old world #10 who had previously lost the 2016 final, roared to life in the 2018 final.

At the final point she ran up to the Royal Box and hugged her coach Wim Fissette, who she turned to after a poor 2017 season dropped her down the rankings. And this is a list that doesn't even include Victoria Azarenka, Garbine Muguruza, Simona Halep or Petra Kvitova. She reached the fourth round of the French Open, but a pectoral injury forced her to withdraw.

"We tried to improve my tennis by being more aggressive", Kerber explained. "Great lovefest and it showed how much love there is for her and I think she appreciates it".
