The Top Bombshells In Mueller's Indictment Of Russian DNC Hackers

Twelve Russian spies have been charged with running a sweeping hacking campaign to damage Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the 2016 US presidential election - with the indictment landing three days before Donald Trump is set to meet Vladimir Putin.

The United States Justice Department has announced charges against 12 Russian intelligence officers for hacking during the 2016 presidential campaign.

US indictments against a dozen Russian intelligence officers on Friday provided detailed technical evidence to back up allegations of Russian hacking and leaking of information to influence the 2016 USA presidential election.

Rosenstein said the Russians tried to infiltrate computers of state boards, secretaries of states and others who administer elections.

The indictment - announced days before US President Donald Trump's summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin - stands as the clearest Justice Department allegation yet of Russian efforts to interfere, through illegal hacking, in the election before Americans went to the polls.

"The defendants falsely claimed DCLeaks was American and that Guccifer 2.0 was a sole Romanian hacker", Rosenstein said.

The Russian hackers in the indictment are identified as: Viktor Borisovich Netyksho, Boris Alekseyevich Antonov, Dmitriy Sergeyevich Badin, Ivan Sergeyevich Yermakov, Aleksey Viktorovich Lukashev, Sergey Aleksandrovich Morgachev, Nikolay Yuryevich Kozachek, Pavel Vyacheslavovich Yershov, Artem Andreyevich Malyshev, Aleksandr Vladimirovich Osadchuk, Aleksey Aleksandrovich Potemkin, and Anatoliy Sergeyevich Kovalev. Rosenstein said that Trump had already been briefed on the indictments earlier in the week.

Mr Rosenstein said there were no allegations that USA citizens were involved in the alleged crimes.

The goal of the conspiracy was to have an impact on the election.

But Friday's indictment was the first by Mueller that directly charges Russia's government with meddling.

Game of Thrones leads Emmy 2018 nominations with 22 nods
It was a deep year of nominations for minority performers, who accounted for over one-third of Thursday's acting nominees. The USA Network legal drama, whose eighth season will premiere later this month, has yet to receive any Emmy nods.

Trump's campaign walked back his comments and later said he was only joking.

Rosenstein said the hackers stole emails, files, and other documents, accessing the systems by creating fictitious online personas. "This is not a witch hunt and it is certainly not a joke, as Donald Trump has desperately and incorrectly argued in the past", Perez said.

In February this year, Mueller's team unveiled criminal charges against 13 Russians and three Russian companies for interfering in the presidential campaign, using social media and coordinating with low-level Trump campaign activists.

It's believed several people contacted Guccifer 2.0 to obtain documents and data, including Roger Stone, a former Trump campaign aide, who has admitted talking to Guccifer 2.0 and acted as a go-between for the hacker and Trump's presidential campaign.

Those charged include Michael Flynn, Trump's former national security adviser, who admitted guilt to one count of lying to investigators on December 1; former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort's longtime partner and deputy campaign chair Rick Gates and campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos.

Egypt explosion: Twelve hurt in blast near Cairo airport
Egyptian state television is reporting that a fire raging as a result of the explosion had been brought under control. He denied early news that claimed the explosion occurred at the Cairo International, its pier, or the gas station.

Mr Mueller, appointed by the Justice Department in May 2017 to take over an investigation earlier handled by the FBI, is investigating whether Mr Trump's campaign colluded with Russian Federation and whether the president has unlawfully sought to obstruct the Russian Federation investigation.
