Thailand’s cave boys to be discharged from hospital on Thursday

The British diver who found 12 Thai boys and their coach trapped alive in a flooded cave has described his "massive relief" as he counted them one by one, in what he called an unprecedented rescue operation.

The Thai Navy Seals also released video showing the three-day effort to free the boys.

But bursts of monsoon rain caused the water inside the cave to rise, leaving them trapped.

In the cavern, one-by-one, the boys were fitted with 5mm-thick wetsuits and full-face scuba masks.

The boys are recuperating from their ordeal in Chiang Rai hospital, apparently in good spirits with doctors on Friday saying they were sleeping and eating well and able to receive visits from close relatives. Banphot told The Associated Press his son, better known by his nickname, Dom, said that after the team members began their casual trek into the cave on June 23, they had no idea it had begun raining outside.

All 13 members of the Wild Boars soccer team, including their coach, are recovering in the hospital. "That won't happen or we'll give them hell", Chu tweeted, adding it's "a attractive story" about human beings saving other human beings.

"In the end, cave rescue requires cavers and trained cave rescuers", he said, referencing the "distraction" of the offer by United States tech guru Elon Musk to evacuate the boys in a special pod.

In a Facebook post yesterday, Dr Harris lauded all those involved in the search-and-rescue mission, and credited other divers for "laying the very robust rope (in the cave) which made all subsequent dives to the soccer team not only possible, but safe".

In a follow-up tweet, the 38-year-old Asian-American director said he "couldn't just sit here watching how others would "interpret" this important story".

Divers found the group after nine days inside the flooded cave, but needed to rehearse the rescue because of treacherous conditions through the cave's 2.5 mile (4 kilometer) long passages.

One of soccer's most popular teams, Manchester United, expressed its relief over the rescue and invited the boys and their coach, as well as those who saved them, to come see them play on their home ground this season. Unbelievable", he said. "They looked in good health, but of course when we departed all we could think about was how we were going to get them out.

"Everyone has worked well together to bring the children out".

Will Jose Mourinho make move for England star Harry Maguire?
City were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Liverpool last season and Mahrez said: 'They have everything to try and win it. After their title success, City are now striving to win the Champions League and that ambition was of huge appeal to Mahrez.

Thai authorities had contacted the British Cave Rescue Council for help when the boys disappeared.

The children and their 25-year-old football coach were retrieved following a risky three-day operation which concluded on Tuesday. "We are humbled to have been able to provide our expertise and experience to assist in this worldwide operation led by the Thai government".

The rescue took more than two weeks.

"And all this time four fearless Navy Seals sat with the Wild Boars knowing they were in as much danger as the kids".
