When trying to defend and downplay his earlier comments about the National Football League protests, he reportedly said "Colonel Sanders called blacks ni***rs", and never got in trouble for it.

He was forced to resign as Papa John's chief executive previous year after he criticised the NFL for its handling of national anthem protests by players.

On the call, Schnatter was asked how he would distance himself from online racist groups.

He also mentioned that, while growing up in IN, people would drag African-Americans from trucks until they died. The reference apparently was meant to show that he found racism deplorable, but the source told Forbes that multiple people on the call were offended.

"Regardless of the context, I apologize", the statement said.

He had also been sentenced by the accountability court to one year in prison on charges of abetment in the Avenfield case. Abbasi told the media, "The court has sentenced Sharif to 10 years of imprisonment and fined him 8 million pounds".


The University of Louisville said it doesn't condone racism. but added it doesn't think Schnatter's comments "reflect his personal beliefs or values". For the first three months of this year, the chain earlier reported that a key sales figure fell 5.3 percent in North America.

Hours later, in a separate, 50-word statement, Papa John's announced it had accepted Schnatter's resignation, and that it would announce a new chairman soon.

The publication reported the alleged objectionable behavior took place on a call intended as a role-playing exercise for Schnatter on avoiding racially charged mishaps in the future.

Papa John's and Laundry Service did not immediately respond to Newsweek's request for comment.

The time for Louisville to figure out a way to disassociate itself with former Papa John's CEO John Schnatter is approaching like a supersonic jet.

The media agency, Laundry Service, cut ties with Papa John's shortly after.

Schnatter has a history of making political statements that have sparked controversy. "Papa John's will appoint a new Chairman of the Board in the coming weeks".

By February, the Pizza Chain would end its sponsorship deal with the league entirely and it's biggest celebrity, Peyton Manning, would go on to sell his stake in the company.
