Avenatti had claimed the arrest was a politically motivated "set up" and also blasted the police's explanation.

The porn star's lawyer said the arrest "reeks of desperation", and said Daniels was performing the same routine she had done "at almost a hundred strip clubs" throughout the country. "We will fight all bogus charges", Avenatti tweeted. But a 2007 OH law states that an employee at a sexually-oriented business is not allowed to touch anyone not related to them while nude or seminude. A violation is a misdemeanor.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is scheduled to perform at Platinum West in West Columbia on July 19 as part of her "Make America Horny Again" tour. NBC News have posted a video online of what they say is Ms Daniels arriving at Jackson Pike Correctional Center in handcuffs. She was performing at Sirens, a strip club in Columbus, when she allowed someone in the crowd to touch her. No times are listed for her performances and a representative of Platinum Plus would only say they are at night. In May, Trump said Daniels was paid to stop "false and extortionist accusations". But according to a Columbus Dispatch article in September 2017, the law has rarely been used since then. In 2016, Daniels sued Trump claiming that he never signed the nondisclosure or "hush" agreement, in hopes of making it invalid.
